Access to the Japanese Auction Watch?
What is required to see the Japanese Auction Watch thread? When I clicked to view, a password was requested (it is not my Can-Am Alpina login pw).
Have you bid on a car in the Japanese auctions? Let's say for example that you wanted to save this one at http://www.kurumaerabi.com/car/info/10322/89/, how would you make the purchase then get it shipped to your shop? Last edited by mab1957; 12-08-2012 at 11:59 AM. |

Hi mab,
just type in the word "auction" to see the auction sub-forum. Yes, I've bought four cars for myself and 6 for my cousin from the Japanese auctions. You need to find a broker to work with. I've used Scott at Japan Car Direct (http://www.japancardirect.com/) Scott is a Canadian (Albertan) now living in Japan. I was very pleased with his service, he is quite conscientious. If you decide to use his services, tell him Craig from Ontario sent you. |

By the way if you're interested in a B9 this one has been for sale for some time:

If you want more information on reputable exporters from Japan, you should sign up at JDMVIP.com. They're not big euro fans, but there's a number of recommendations on exporters and both good and bad reviews on both exporters and importers. Generally, the info on the site is more for Canadians, but there are some Americans on there too.
Stick around at Alpina.ca though for info and stuff related to BMW's and Alpina's. We don't post every Alpina that goes through auction, but we'll post up at least some of them |

I will ask Scott to inquire if an Alpina could be secured and shipped to the U.S. within my budget. From what little research I have completed, there are a number of parties that will need to be involved = $$ Did they negotiate with the seller on your behalf and is their fee typically in the purchase arrangement with the seller or separately itemized and paid by the purchaser? |

I had Scott buy from the auction, not directly from the seller.
His fee was above and beyond the price of the car, and was borne by me. Do you have a link to the Pole Position website? |

Do you mind if I ask what his fee was? Most exporters fee is 100,000 - 125,000 JPY which should be far less than the cost of an Alpina.

His fees are listed here:
http://www.japancardirect.com/how-to-buy But he was offering a bit of a discount because of the currently high value of the Yen. |

Thanks, he's got some nice stuff.
Its odd how retail prices in Japan seem higher than elsewhere, but auction prices seem lower than elsewhere. |
