Smile Hello from Winnipeg

New member but I've been here every now and then as a guest. I figured it was time to register.

I've never owned an Alpina but I've been a proud BMW owner since May 2010. Picked up this E38 from Japan as the summer ride:

I want an Alpina next, that much I know. A E31 B12 6.0 or E38 6.0 SWB was topping the list but then I saw the B8 4.6... And that was that. But even a 3.2 would be fine by me. The E36 is a great chassis and Alpina really maximized its capabilities.

Nice to meet you!

Welcome!

Nice car! Love the E38's on M parallels. Who did you import it through (or who was your exporter)? 740 or 750?

Do your research on the B12's before you jump in. The BMW V12's of that time can require A LOT of work if they haven't been properly maintained.

Thanks! I went through Tyee Imports... Unfortunately. I won't bore you with the details but needless to say, I won't deal with them ever again.

It's a 9/94 740i. Love that M60.

I've heard both the M70 and M73 are high maintenance engines so a B12 of any year or chassis might be out of the question for me. I've always wanted a E36 and an Alpina variant would be pretty awesome.

Welcome to the forum. And beautiful E38.

I brought in an E38 myself from Japan. What did you do about the headlight? Did you swap them out to LHD version?

Does your car have the annoying backing-up gong?

I had them swapped for European LHD units. I also put in Umnitza LED angel eyes that function as DRLs.

And yes, it does! Not sure why it has it. LOL
