Default replacement key

Has anyone ever ordered a replacement key? Did you order it through Alpina or BMW? Based on what VIN?

I haven't ordered a replacement key, but I suspect that if you order one based of the original BMW VIN it should work. I wouldn't think Alpina would change out or re-key the locks, but I could be wrong.
