Can you take another photo of the emblem? It's hard to make out if it still as the "Alpina" lettering on it or not.

Scooter,

I am on my way out with my wife. I will try when I get home to see if I can get a better picture. However I can assure you it says "ALPINA" in large letters that 1/2 way circle the top of the knob. I have a 100% rating on ebay and am very well known on the 2 main E24 forums where I sell hi end parts on a regular basis and my word is gold there. I do notice a tiny blemish on the silver circle that goes around the top of the knob. This is a factory blemish as it is under the clear that goes over the top of the knob

Can one of you B8 guys measure the diameter of your shift knob emblem? I have an Alpina knob that I'd like to replace the emblem on. It was put on rather sideways and I don't suppose I'll get it off and on again successfully. My emblem is ~35mm.

I'll try to remember to measure mine tonight if you still need it.

With my super accurate tape measure I was getting 34mm, so it's probably 35mm

Woohoo that is great news. Thanks so much for confirming. Even if it's 1 mm off it's nothing that either duct tape or WD40 can't fix.
