We have to remember before Alpina was recognized as a separate manufacturer, they utilized the BMW VIN. I bet that this is the case with your car. If it was authentically modified by Alpina, as per what they were doing during the time your car was modified, and it sounds like it was as documented by the information from Alpina (if you do not already have it, I would recommend asking for that it writing from them), then I think that would settle any arguments.
