Alpina nomenclature
I asked this question on another forum but didn't get an answer.
Can someone explain the Alpina naming conventions, particularly on older models? For example, everyone understands that a BMW 325i is a 3 series car with an injected 2.5L engine. But where do 'C1', B7, and B11 derive from? |

Thank you ALP1NA. That certainly explains why I was confused by their model names!

Stirling, we're here to help if you can, does not it. The book http://www.edition-weiss-blau.de/ALP...lpina-Buch.htm, which I also have, an also offers an explanation but book it is in German, so we take this seemed logical.

Basically the naming is very confusing and the article didn't help my including errors. |

The only error I saw in the article was calling the M20 an M60. Everything else seems spot-on as far as I've understood it.
A = M10 B = M30 C = M20 There wasn't a letter for the M7* or M6* motors. They pretty much adapted the "B" for everything. The V8 E34s were B10s still. |
